“I’m Penny and I’m proud, I’m cute and I’m loud, and I got it going on!” Our favorite cartoon sassy teen, Penny Proud, sure does got it going on. Recent reports just stated that Disney+ is bringing back The Proud Family for a high demanded reboot. The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder will return with the original cast and Executive Producers from The Proud Family, which aired on Disney Channel in the 2000s. Original series creator/Executive Producer Bruce W. Smith and Executive Producer Ralph Farquhar reunited to bring back one of our favorite childhood classics.

“In our minds, the show never really went away, as we still had tons of stories left to tell,” Smith and Farquhar said in a statement. “It’s the perfect time to bring back this show, and we can’t wait to take fans, old and new alike, on this journey with us.”

Main character, Penny Proud, is voice acted by the timeless actress, Kyla Pratt. She went to her Instagram to share her excitement by saying, “Official Official !!!!!! The Proud Family is coming back!!!!! #LouderandProuder !!! All new episodes are coming soon to @Disneyplus !!!! So grateful and excited and happy the news is finally officially out so y’all can stop harassing me 😂 #PennyProud 🙌🏽”

The comments were filled with excited fans who were happy that the 2019 rumors actually came true.

This came at no surprise. The Proud Family became a staple in many of our childhoods because Penny Proud and her gang, Dijonay Jones, Sticky Webb, Zoey Howzer, and LaCienega Boulevardez represented diversity and showed love for their individual cultures and ways of life. We got a taste of what it was like to be a teenager during that time. The show filled us with laughs while also tackling real topics like relationships, racism and the awkwardness of growing up.

We can’t wait to see the new stories the show will bring to the table especially now that the generation that grew up with the show are now adults with their own families.

As of right now no air date has been announced.
