The beautiful couple is well versed in the routines and rituals of parenthood as they raise their four kids, Zaya, Zaire, Xavier, and Kaavia. Among all the patterns to keeping their young ones happy and healthy lies the struggle for managing their skincare, especially of their youngest, three-year-old, Kaavia. This along with a “gnarly,” diaper rash inspired the dynamic duo to launch their PROUDLY skincare line.
The result is a brand catering to “baby care for melanated skin, created for us and by us,” the Wades share in their mission statement about their product line. “From the moment our daughter Kaavia entered this world, we knew we’d teach her to embrace her skin, its beauty, power, wisdom, and magic. That means caring for it with love. So, inspired by our littlest love and millions of other babies of color, we set out to build PROUDLY.”
The goal behind the launch is to address the skincare inconsistencies that families of color face in their attempts to form and maintain beauty routines. PROUDLY products are co-designed by a dermatologist of color, who studied and selected ingredients to nourish melanated skin. This aligns with their mission of better meeting the needs of young kids of color, as every step of the process keeps their unique skincare needs in their hearts and mind.
The PROUDLY line has various baby skincare care products for every routine stage. Their five products include a hydrating baby lotion made with jojoba oil and shea butter, an all-over balm with mango butter and jojoba oil. A gentle baby wash with aloe and jojoba oil, a nourishing oil comprising a mix of jojoba and rosehip oils and squalane, and lastly, all hypoallergenic, water-based, gentle touch baby wipes made with shea butter and aloe vera.
