The 51st NAACP Image Awards will be airing live on BET Saturday February 22, 2020. The NAACP Image Awards celebrate the accomplishments of people of color in the entertainment industry. They honor those who promote social justice through creative endeavors. Fifth-time NAACP Image Award-winner, Anthony Anderson, will return as host this year. This will be his seventh consecutive year hosting the ceremony. Here is a breakdown of what you can expect for the night.
Singer-songwriters H.E.R. and Jill Scott are special performers who will take the stage.
Presenters of the evening this year include Alicia Keys, Tiffany Haddish, Janelle Monae, and Jamie Foxx.
Leading the nomination categories this year include Netflix with 42 nominations, RCA Records with 14 nominations, and Universal pictures with 15 nominations.
This year the global music and fashion icon, business entrepreneur and philanthropist Rihanna will receive the President Award. The NAACP Chairman’s Award will be received by U.S. Congressman and civil rights leader John Lewis (D-GA).
