What does it mean to be confident? Confidence is the feeling of self-assurance arising from one’s appreciation of one’s own abilities or qualities. Confidence comes in many different forms and its up to you to present to the world what your confidence represents.

Puerto Rican singer, rapper, and songwriter, Bad Bunny, spoke on his life and what makes him confident. He didn’t always have the confidence he wanted but as he grew up he had to dig deep to find what makes him feel “sexy”.

“My mom always told me I was cute, bonito, as a kid and I wouldn’t believe it,” the singer, 26, tells PEOPLE as part of his “Deja Tu Huella” campaign with Cheetos. “Today I believe it. I think that’s the most important part of being sexy — believing it yourself. If you don’t believe it yourself, no one will think it.”

Step one to building confidence is believing in yourself. Even if you have not reached your maximum level of confidence, fake it until you make it. Continuing to maintain your appearance and providing yourself with daily words of affirmation is a great start to the road of self-love.

“You have to feel sexy, no matter when or where,” the reggaetón star says. “That’s the most important of being sexy”

Step two is reminding yourself that every day will not be the same. There will be up and downs in your journey based on how you feel but it’s important to continue forward.

“Some days you feel ugly, but other days you wake up and feel like you’re the sexiest person on earth,” the reggaetón star admits.

Step three is make it a priority to find your niche. What make you happy? Finding actions that make you feel liberated and free will give you the boost of energy you need to continue on. Finding your happiest moments are important.

“Obviously, when I’m on stage or making music is when I feel not only sexy, but empowered and free,” he adds. “The happiest. In those moments, I feel big. I feel sexy and all of the positive feelings you can imagine.”

Respect yourself and remember to give yourself grace. The journey will be bumpy will well worth it when you establish what makes you your best self. You got this!
