Congratulations are in order for Atlanta rapper and Fast and the Furious star Christopher ‘Ludacris’ Bridges. He announced via Instagram that he will be receiving his honorary degree from Georgia State University. The university announced the approval of the degree in the Bachelor of Science in Music Management.

According to Fox5 Atlanta, Georgia State University released a statement about the honor, “We are proud that Chris Bridges got his start at Georgia State,” Georgia State President M. Brian Blake stated. “He has gone on to become a cultural and philanthropic icon, representing Atlanta and giving back in many ways. Our students in the Creative Media Industries Institute (CMII) and College of Law have benefited from learning from his career, and we’re excited to honor him as a member of the Panther family.” They even took to Twitter and shared a throwback photo of Ludacris’ Student ID Card.

This comes from a prior history with Ga State as Ludacris attending the university for 2 years before dropping out to sign with Dej Jam Records. In 2019 Ludacris was named the artist-in-residence mentoring students and entrepreneurs in the music and film industry.

The ceremony is scheduled for May 4th, 2022 at 9am EST at Center Park Stadium .
