Megan the Stallion files to trademark “Hot Girl Summer”

Summer 2019 is definitely a “Hot Girl Summer”. You’ve seen the term spread across multiple media platforms and fans are constantly incorporating it throughout their daily lives. The creator of the slogan is the one and only Megan the Stallion and she is on her way to trademarking the catchphrase.

According to the Billboard, the saying has taken off across the country thanks to her diehard ‘Hotties’ fanbase, which Meg defines as women — and men — “unapologetically” being themselves and “living their truth.” She’s even teased releasing a “Hot Girl Summer” anthem before the season’s out and is running her own official “Hot Girl Summer” playlist on Spotify with more than 110,000 followers.”

The trademark was filed July 10th, 2019, which is a great start in further developing her own brand. This catchphrase will continue to be the highlight of the summer especially already being marketed by brands like Wendy’s, Duolingo, Forever 21 and Maybelline.

Billboard also says that “The trademark will cover merchandise specifically for products such as hoodies, T-shirts and sportswear, if approved.”
