Soul Train Awards 2021 Will Honor R&B Legends Ashanti and Maxwell


The 2021 Soul Train Awards will be hosted by Tasha Campbell and Tisha Arnold held at the credible Apollo Theatre. This is a first in the history of the Soul Train Awards as the previous ceremonies have been held in Las Vegas. The event will take place on Sunday, November 28th at 8pm EST. The award show will celebrate the 50th Year Anniversary of Soul Train and will highlight the best in r&b, soul, and hip hop. BET announced that Ashanti and Maxwell will be the honorees. Maxwell, a pioneer for neo soul music, is set to receive the “Legend” award. American singer, songwriter, entrepreneur, and actress Ashanti, will receive the “Lady of Soul” award.

Maxwell has consistently released five studio album classics and has often been credited as one of the creators of the “neo soul movement”. His first album Maxwell’s Urban Hang Suite received a grammy and his remaining 4 albums went platinum. Maxwell is a staple musician and his music redefines what it means to be neo soul artist.

Ashanti has received many Soul Train Awards throughout her career, but this is the first time that she will be an honoree. Her career has been one of success and achievement and BET will honor it. This year’s 2021 Soul Train Awards will spotlight Black culture and entertainment. The event will feature some of the hottest performances and guest appearances.

This annual event will focus on displaying Soul Train’s evident influence on music, culture, and dance rooted from the 70’s as they celebrate 50 years of soul.
