The popular HBO comedy/drama ‘Insecure’ has confirmed that season 5 will be it’s last running of the show.

Creator of the show, Issa Rae made the announcement in a tweet on Wednesday.

“Very excited to film our fifth and final season! We couldn’t have told a complete story without the tremendous support of our audience and the faith of (HBO). See y’all soon!” she said.

The show tackles the lives of two best friends Issa (Issa Rae) and Molly (Yvonne Orji) as they deal with internal struggles within themselves, their friendship, and the African American community

Amy Gravitt, the Executive Vice President of HBO Programming, also released a statement on Wednesday. “Issa [Rae] has turned insecurity into an iconic form of comedy,” she continues “The show is as incisive as it is heartfelt, and it has resonated strongly with its audience because of the deeply personal work that Issa, Prentice, Melina, the cast and the writers have put into it. This talented team has conceived a brilliant final season for Insecure and we look forward to having many more stories to tell with this singular group of collaborators,” according to Deadline.

Although Insecure is coming to an end, we can still expect to see Issa Rae premiere on future HBO projects says Amy Gravitt, executive vice president of HBO Programming.

In a statement she says “This talented team has conceived a brilliant final season for ‘Insecure’ and we look forward to having many more stories to tell with this singular group of collaborators,”

It is reported that all scripts for season 5 are completed and filming will start later on this month.
