Writer-director Jordan Peele says that making Get Out represents his "truest passion."

Jordan Peele has announced his retirement as an actor.

The Get Out producer first made a name for himself by appearing in Mad TV sketches and shows like ‘Fargo‘. Peele has stepped things up a notch and switched gears to now being an Oscar-awarded filmmaker.

The 2017 film, ‘Get Out‘ grossed $176 million in the United States and Canada and $79.4 million in other territories for a worldwide gross of $255.5 million, against a production budget of $4.5 million.

The 2019 film ‘Us‘ grossed $175.1 million in the United States and Canada, and $80.1 million in other territories, for a worldwide total of $255.2 million, against a production budget of $20 million.

Peele is now focused on being behind the camera and even explains how he doesn’t enjoy seeing himself perform anymore. According to a Hypebeast article, he says “I like watching my movies. I can watch the films I direct; watching me perform just feels like, it’s a bad kind of masturbatory. It’s masturbation you don’t enjoy.” He continues, “I feel like I got to do so much and it is a great feeling. When I think about those great moments when you’re basking in something you said that feels funny. When I think about all that, I think I got enough.”

Peele is currently developing a new movie with “Get Out” and “Us” studio Universal Pictures. The movie already has a theatrical release date set for July 2022.

We’ll just have to wait and see the next masterpiece Peele puts together!
