Niecy Nash joins international beauty brand No7′s multi-level women empowerment movement, Unstoppable Together, to mobilize women after covid-related “SHEcession.”

The term “SHEcession” was coined by Dr. C. Nicole Mason of the Institute for Women and Policy Research (IWPR). The term refers to the various ways that COVID-19 disproportionately affects women.

“According to the Department of Labor, women are exiting the labor market at four times the rate of men,” Dr. Mason tells Businesswire. “No matter how resilient or strong, women – and particularly women of color – are feeling the brunt of this recession due to systemic inequalities and stereotypes such as a women’s role in society as the homemaker or the caregiver. No7’s Unstoppable Together aligns with IWPR’s mission to improve the lives of women and we look forward to working with them to help cast a light on the SHEcovery.”

The beauty brand’s Unstoppable Together will help women cope with the stress of the pandemic and mobilize them to rejoin the workforce. No7 initiative will transform the “SHEcession” into a “SHEcovery.” The skincare brand will partner with women’s rights advocates and organizations to unite women and help face the gender-related issues from Covid.

“With so many women being out of work, we know the circumstance of times like these,” Nicey Nash tells Essence. “So we want to provide them with resources and told to het back to work. It really drives home the idea of being my sister’s keeper.”

To help spark the conversation, No7 released a short women-produced video to help capture the magnitude of this SHEcession.
