Stars set the red carpet ablaze at the 51st Annual NAACP Image Awards. From Givenchy to Christopher John Rogers, our favorite entertainers held nothing back for a special night of honoring black excellence. The awards recognizes people of color who promote philanthropy, social justice and the best in entertainment. Here are the Top 5 red carpet moments of the 2020 Image Awards. 

Lizzo

Lizzo came looking fly in a body con dress with patterns as big as her personality. Lizzo wore a custom multi-colored Mary Katrantzou dress and her hair in a beautiful afro puff. She accessorized the look with a gold clutch and matching jewelry. Her look was styled by Brett Alan Nelson and hairstylist Shelby Swain who put the look together in under 2 hours!

Rihanna

Rhianna may have skipped the red carpet prior to the awards but she still graced us with her infamous style during the award show. Rihanna came in an all purple look as she accepted her 2020 NAACP President’s Award. She came styled in a Givenchy SS20 purple gown ruffled knee length A-semetrical gown. She accompanied that with matching earrings and open toe high laced sandals.

Tracee Ellis Ross

Tracee Ellis Ross showed us her bold style with orange lips accompanied with her look. She wore a deep purple gown that shifted to hints of blue depending on the angle you looked at it. The deep cut dress exposed a little skin on her chest and legs in a classy way. The gown was created by Christopher John Rogers and paired with gold Louboutin heels.

Yara Shahidi

Yara Shahidi wore a very detailed beaded Gucci dress. The aqua blue dress expressed her youthful style with pops of yellow and pink in the design. The turtleneck dress was had puffy sleeves that added a little flair. Her stylist, Jason Bolden, accompanied her look with a scrappy gold heel that matched the beaded design on her dress. 

Janelle Monet

Janelle Monet came in an African inspired gown that was broken in two pieces. She wore a black long sleeve top and vibrant orange skirt, which emphasized her trim waist. The dress is from Balmain SS20 and stylist, Mandel Korn, paired the ensemble with some edgy sliver earrings. To complete the look she wore a braided halo like up-do.
