Hip Hop has taken a turn that has made lasting impressions on the industry and families involved. After the untimely deaths of rappers Young Dolph and Drakeo the Ruler, Wiz Khalifa called to action on Twitter. He went on to tweet, “As entertainers lets try some sh*t next year. Minding our own business.”

Last month, Young Dolph was killed while picking up cookies for his mother at Makeda’s Homemade Butter Cookies in Memphis. According to CNN, West Coast rapper, Drakeo the Ruler, was fatally stabbed backstage at a Los Angeles music festival. He was scheduled to perform at Once Upon a Time in LA that Saturday.

Wiz Khalifa ouches on what artists should stop doing in light of the recent events to help evoke change in the industry and our communities. “Not dis respecting each others family, dead homies, or area they come from. Stop using someone else’s significant other as a one up to the other person. Actually showing the same love you expect to get.” he says.

Also according to CNN, the “Kush and Orange Juice” artist vowed to not speak on negativity and violence in his music in 2014. His motivation was to be a different role model to the younger generation that listened to his music. “I just want to give kids an option to look at somebody who doesn’t talk about that stuff, who they still think is cool.”
