The former First Lady, Michelle Obama, will be taking her public speaking skills into the world of podcasting. The Michelle Obama Podcast will be teaming up with Spotify to bring deep conversations to the everyday listener.
“At Spotify we seek to connect listeners with the world’s most authentic and compelling voices,” Dawn Ostroff, Spotify’s Chief Content and Advertising Business Officer, said in a statement. “We believe that audiences across the globe will be inspired by these most candid, most human and most personal conversations between First Lady Michelle Obama and her guests.”
Former President and husband to Michelle, Barack Obama, will use his production company, Higher Ground, to create the thought provoking podcast for listeners.
Michelle has shown us her skills in writing and speaking with her 2018 debut of her memoir, Becoming, and her Netflix documentary film with the same title. She then followed up with a 34 city book tour where she elaborated on her time in the White House and encouraged others with her sermon.
According to a statement by Spotify and Higher Ground, it said that the podcast will open us up to in depth personal conversations from Michelle. Episodes will center around, “the relationships that shape us, from siblings and close friends to partners, parents, and mentors to our relationship with ourselves and our health.”
“My hope is that this series can be a place to explore meaningful topics together and sort through so many of the questions we’re all trying to answer in our own lives,” Michelle said in a statement. “Perhaps most of all, I hope this podcast will help listeners open up new conversations—and hard conversations—with the people who matter most to them. That’s how we can build more understanding and empathy for one another.”
The Michelle Obama Podcast will premiere exclusively on Spotify on July 29.
