The annual Roots picnic will be one for the books as this year the concert will make some major adjustments. As with most events, this will be taking place virtually amid Covid-19 pandemic regulations. That won’t stop former First Lady Michelle Obama to co-host the show this year.
Through her organization, When We All Vote, Michelle Obama has teamed up with the hip-hop band, The Roots, to co-host the 13th installment of the annual event. Along with music by the band, the event will also serve as a voter registration drive.
Michelle Obama took to twitter to make this announcement.
Lil Baby, H.E.R, Musiq Soulchild are part of the long lineup scheduled to perform. We can also expect with appearances by Tracee Ellis Ross, Chris Paul, Kerry Washington, and many more. There are a number of artists, entertainers and public figures who will also be a part of this event.
The virtual event will take place on June 27th via Youtube starting at 6pm EST.
